The Reality of Righteousness

Transcript of Message by Kenneth Copeland

These things can become a working reality in the life of the believer.

It can get to the place where you’re more aware of the Spirit of God in you than those around you.

Then you’ll have God’s compassion for the needs of those around you.

Isaiah 32:15-18

15 Until the Spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest,

16 then judgment shall dwell in the forest, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace – [whole, nothing missing, nothing broken, well-being, prosperous in every area of life] and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance for ever.

18 And my people shall dwell in a peaceable hanbitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

Peace is not passive. It’s assurance. You’ll say to the hail storm, “Get off my property”.

It would not be you speaking - it would be righteousness speaking - the righteousness of God.

"Judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field, and the work of righteousness shall be peace and the effect of it quietness and assurance forever..."

Whilst judgment remains our there in the wilderness, righteousness will be the labourer reaping the fruit of your field.

We enter into His rest.

The righteousness of God has no business being torn up wondering “What am I going to do?”

The question is, “What has God done - what is He doing - and what is He going to do?”

If we ask any other question, like, “What am I going to do?” we’re making ourself God, and He said, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

Christ means anointed. You can’t separate the anointed One from the anointing with which He was anointed, and what He was anointed to do - 341 times in the New Testament.

“I can do all things through Christ which [not who, referring to the anointing] which strengthens me.”

“But of Him are you in Christ [the Anointed] Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification and redemption.”

Is the Anointed One in you?

Then the anointing is in you.

We are the body of the Anointed One. We are the body of the anointing in this earth. "Christ [the Anointing] in us, the hope of glory."

“Of Him...”

He did it.

“From whom the body fitly joined together, compacted that by which every joint supplieth...”

The righteousness of God is the key issue to the Epistles of Paul.

Notice that Christ is mentioned. There’s an anointing involved in this.

Jesus is anointed as our wisdom; He is anointed as our righteousness; He is anointed as our sanctification and our redemption.

He has an anointing in Him and on Him to administer righteousness unto us. He has the sceptre – one who has ultimate authority.

If someone holds a sceptre, whatever they say in Court will go down with authority. Hebrews says Jesus has been given the sceptre of righteousness. When He pointed the sceptre at you, when you believed, you were born again of the Spirit of God, and your name was written in the Book, under the heading of King and Priest. Hallelujah!

Righteousness is not some state of belonging or quality of piety earned by many years of good deeds. Righteousness is not the training and attaining of the flesh (which can be done, until even the senses can discern between good and evil, can be done by the Word,) but that is holiness not righteousness. Don’t get them mixed up. Religion chokes on the Righteousness of God in you.

This is part of the ministry of Jesus – He is made unto us righteousness.

II Corinthians 5:17-21

17 If any man be in [the anointed One and in that anointing], he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new.

18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us unto Himself by [the Anointed One], and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

19 To know that God was in [that anointing] reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses against them, and has already committed unto us the word of reconciliation…

21 For He hath made him to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in [the anointed One and in His anointing]. We pray you in [the anointed One’s] stead, “You be reconciled to God.”

The devil doesn’t want you to find this out, because when you do, you’ll start to govern his affairs.

A new creature means a new species of being that did not exist before that moment.

Only the rejection of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour will send a person to hell – because God is not imputing their sins unto them.

You can walk on a level of power, you can train yourself in these areas.

He neither slumbers nor sleeps, so you can sleep and wake up in the morning!

If He’s not holding anyone’s sins against them, is every one going to heaven? No.

If by one’s man’s offence, death comes on all, much more they that have RECEIVED the gift of righteousness shall reign in life…

See righteousness must be received.

We’ve received it, but walked like we never did get it.

Did Jesus ever commit sin? No. Jesus committed no sin. You committed no righteousness.

But He was made to be sin with your sin that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. Exactly the same exchange. He was made sin – you were made righteous with His righteousness.

As far as heaven and the Spirit and the blood are concerned, you have been made as righteous as Jesus.

God once said to a brother who was having some problems: “How could I be mad or grieved or put-out with you? I can be grieved. But it’s a different type of grief to if someone said, ‘I’m not having any more to do with you.’ For me to feel that way about you, I’d have to feel that way about myself. Because you are my righteousness.”

Spiritual death is separation from God. There’s no such thing as an unattached human being. There isn’t God, the devil and then you. Man by himself is not sovereign. Once a sovereign God has made a sovereign promise, He’ll never break it. The only thing about man that God has put a touch of sovereignty on is his will.

You were made the righteousness of God the moment you received Jesus as Lord and Saviour.

The righteousness of God, the Apostle Paul wrote:

“The righteousness which is of faith speaks…”

He walked in righteousness, He knew He was righteous, He knew who He was, and He said, “Lazarus come forth.” He didn’t even stop to think, “Oh please don’t ask me to raise Lazarus, I don’t know if I’ve got enough faith.”

“Oh Lord he stinketh by now.” There is a death conscious response.

“You could have maybe done something if he hadn’t decayed so much.”

He turned to her and told her exactly what He was told to say.

The reason He said it with a loud voice is because the Holy Spirit told Him to say it in a loud voice.
